SSC CGL 2017 EXAM PAPER: Held on 09-AUG-2017 Shift-1 (Mathematics)

QID: 02 - A piece of work was finished by A, B and C together. A and B together finished 60% of the work and B and C together finished 70% of the work. Who among the three is most efficient? Options: 1) A       2) B      3) C      4) A or B

Sol: We have three equations representing the efficiencies of A, B and C.:

A+B+C = 100 (Work is completed by A, B and C)      (1)

A+B     = 60 (Work is completed by A and B.             (2)

B+C     = 70 (Work is completed by B and C)             (3)

Equation (1) and (2) give, C = 40; Equation (1) and (3) give, A = 30;

And these two values being substituted in (1) gives B = 30.

Hence, C is most efficient. Correct Option: (C)

Qu.  In the given figure, PQRS is a square and SRT is an equilateral triangle. What is the value (in degree) of SOR? Options:
1) 45     2) 55       3) 60         4) 75

Qu.  In the given figure, PQRS is a square and SRT is an equilateral triangle. What is the value (in degree) of SOR? Options: 1) 45     2) 55       3) 60         4) 75 (SSC CGL 2017 EXAM PAPER: Held on 08-AUG-2017 Shift-3)

All angles are in degree.

Angle TSO = Angle TSR -Angle OSR = 60 – 45 = 15.

Angle SOR = 180 – { Angle OSR + Angle ORS}

= 180 – {(Angle TSR - Angle TSO)} + 60}

= 180 – {60 – 15 + 60} = 75

Correct Option: (4)
